When rescue workers heard of two abandoned dogs hiding underneath a house, they immediately rushed over to the area. They knew that they would have to be the ones to rescue the pups from their horrible situation. However, they never expected the situation to be as difficult as it became.

It was an average day when Los Angeles-based animal rescue group, Hope For Paws, received an urgent phone call. They were informed that there were two abandoned dogs living under a house and that they needed immediate care. The rescue group did not take the call lightly…

The person that had placed the call told the group that they preferred to stay anonymous. According to the caller, the dogs were struggling to survive. The organization knew that they had to approach the situation carefully.

The rescue workers headed out and made their way to the home. No one was living there and the house looked like an absolute wreck. The condition that the home was in shocked them.

As they made their way around the premises, the rescue workers immediately learned a horrible truth. It wasn’t a great situation that left these two dogs abandoned without any care and the workers were absolutely shocked at their discovery…

The animal rescue workers had seen some pretty bad situations, but this one really stood out to them. The dogs were in need of some serious help.  They soon learned the truth about their previous owners.

Rescue workers, Lisa Arturo and JoAnn Wiltz, made their way to the backyard when a neighbor approached them. The neighbor informed them that the previous owners had left six months ago. Instead of taking the pups with them, they chose to leave them behind.

With no one to care for them, the dogs were simply surviving off of scraps that they found around the neighborhood. The two dogs hid under the house for shelter. Eventually, one of the neighbor’s took the more approachable dog to live with them. The other one wasn’t so lucky…

The other dog was left alone and still had to survive on his own. Due to his abandonment issues, the dog did not trust humans at all and would run away from them. This created a huge issue for the rescue workers…

The rescue workers decided to get to work. They tried to retrieve the dog, whom they called Flash, from under the house. The problem was that he would go under there to hide from them. At that point it was almost impossible to reach out to him.

Arturo and Wiltz still continued on with their efforts to capture the dog. However, no matter how hard they tried to show him that they meant no harm, the poor pup would only retreat further into the house. That was when they knew they’d have to think of a new plan.

10. A Trap

The rescue workers decided that they would have to figure out a way to trick Flash out of the home. So they set up the perfect trap: a dog cage! The workers decided that they would wait for Flash to walk right into their trap.

The workers set up soft towels, treats, and water inside of the cage. Then, they played the waiting game. Eventually, Flash stuck his little head out of the home and walked right into the cage. They then quickly shut the door right behind him to avoid a daring escape.

Unfortunately, the lock didn’t close completely so Flash quickly attempted to dart out and go back into his hiding place. Lisa and JoAnn made sure to block the entrance and then caught Flash with a snare. But it still wasn’t so simple…

7. Holding On

Even though Flash had managed to get free, the workers kept their wits about them. Thanks to the snare they were able to keep him from running off any further. Still, the dog was terrified and the workers needed him to calm down.

6. Calming Down

Lisa held onto Flash with the snare and began to work on calming him down. JoAnn and Lisa needed to relax him so that they could place him in the cage and take him away to safety. Eventually, the two were able to calm his nerves and get him to a better place.

5. Vet

Flash was brought into the organization’s home base where a veterinarian immediately saw him. The vet checked him over and found that all he needed was daily meals to get healthy once more. However, there was still a bigger issue.

4. Mental State

Despite being able to get better physically, there was still a lot of psychological damage that affected Flash. He still had abandonment issues and initially refused to trust humans. Finding out about this, volunteers Sunny Day Acres decided to work with Flash to help sort out his issues.

3. Progress

With the help of the volunteers from Sunny Day Acres, Flash began to show some very real progress. He quickly opened up to humans and was becoming the friendly pup that he always was. Finally, Flash could be put up for adoption.

2. New Family

After just a few weeks of personal work, Flash’s entire personality changed. Finally, a family found him that wanted to adopt him. Flash was finally going to get the love that he deserved from the beginning.

Thanks to the hard work of Lisa and JoAnn from Hope For Paws, Flash is now living his best life. He now has a happy home where he is loved and taken care of. Flash has finally gotten the happy ending that he deserves.
