Short version: the Snap-on Tools Monopoly Collector’s Edition we featured isn’t sold new anymore: its Amazon listing has no sellers and we couldn’t find a newer edition. The closest current alternative for mechanics and builders is Monopoly Caterpillar, an officially licensed edition with tokens like a hard hat, a tool bag and a work boot.

Snap-on has been in mechanics’ toolboxes since 1920, and a Snap-on Monopoly was the perfect gift for the person who knows every socket size by sound. If you can’t find one, a work-themed edition still scratches the itch. Here’s how they compare, based on the listings (we didn’t test them hands-on).
Snap-on Monopoly vs Monopoly Caterpillar: what’s different

Label check: Monopoly Caterpillar is an alternative, not a new Snap-on edition. Secondhand Snap-on copies do turn up, so check condition and completeness if you go that route.
What matters in real use
- Same Monopoly rules. Everyone already knows how to play, which keeps family game night moving.
- The theme is the gift. Job-site tokens make it feel made for the person who fixes everything.
- Collector buyers: keep the box and the plastic on if it’s going on a shelf.
- Monopoly still ends friendships. Set a time limit. Trust us.
Who should buy it
