Short version: the Roomba 675 we reviewed has been replaced. iRobot’s budget line is now the Roomba 105 (2025) and the newer Roomba 115X Combo (2026), and both add LiDAR mapping the 675 never had. Get the 115X Combo if you want stronger suction and mopping in one pass. Save with the Roomba 105 Vac if you only need vacuuming and want the longest run time.

The Roomba 675 was the robot that taught a lot of us to stop vacuuming on Saturdays. It was simple, reliable and cheap, but it cleaned by bumping around and didn’t have the smart mapping newer robots use. The new entry Roombas fix that. Below is how the two current budget models compare, based on iRobot’s published specs and owner reviews (we didn’t test them hands-on).

What matters in real use

  • Mapping is the big jump from the 675. Both new models use LiDAR to map rooms, so they clean in planned rows and you can send them to one room from the app.
  • More suction on the 115X. Roughly double the suction rating should help on rugs and pet hair. The trade-off is a slightly smaller bin and a shorter battery.
  • Mopping is light-duty. A combo robot keeps hard floors fresh between real mops. It won’t scrub dried spills, so don’t sell it to your partner as a mop replacement.
  • Get the AutoEmpty version if you can. Emptying a small bin every run gets old fast, especially with pets.

A note on iRobot as a company

iRobot filed for Chapter 11 in December 2025 and was bought by its manufacturing partner, Picea, in January 2026 (iRobot’s announcement, TechSpot). The company said it expected no disruption to the app or customer support, and it kept launching new Roombas in 2026. Since these robots lean on the iRobot app, it’s worth knowing who’s behind it.

Who should buy which

  • Buy the Roomba 115X Combo if you have pets, rugs or hard floors that need a daily wipe.
  • Save with the Roomba 105 Vac if you only need vacuuming, your home is mostly one floor, and you want the longest run time per charge.
  • Still have a 675? If it runs, keep it. Upgrade when the battery or brushes give out, or when you’re tired of it bumping into the same chair leg.

Gift it to: new homeowners, busy parents, anyone with a shedding dog, or the person who “doesn’t need anything” but complains about crumbs.
