Ferguson Police Test New Non Lethal Pistol Attachment
The Ferguson Police Department has a new Non Lethal Pistol Attachment that they are set to start testing. This is called “The Alternative”, made by the company Alternative Ballistics. The Non Lethal Pistol Attachment is placed on the barrel of the gun, and when the weapon is fired, the bullet embeds itself into an alloy projectile. That projectile would “send a shock wave of pain through the suspect without the internal damage that a penetrating bullet would cause,” according to Alternative Ballistics.
Everybody all knows what happened in Ferguson, Missouri, no need to go into all of that again. But it does kind of demonstrate a need for something like this within a Police Department. Only thing is, is it going to work? Or even be worth it to have / use these? Police Departments already have SEVERAL Non Lethal devices that they can use, do they really need a Non Lethal Pistol Attachment?
Maybe because this one attaches to the Officer’s weapon quickly and is Bright Orange it will be more effective and used more often. I guess everyone is just going to have to wait and see how it works.

“It’s going to feel like you’re getting punched in the chest by Barry Bonds,” said Christian Ellis, founder and CEO of Alternative Ballistics, which makes the device. “It’s going to break some ribs.”
“The City of Ferguson is in the process of seeking various alternatives for its Police Department to use less lethal force in certain instances to fight crime,”
